Federal Chancellery - Exhibition of State Gifts
Federal Chancellery of Germany
Permanent Exhibition, 2008 - 2022
COORDINATION redesigns the permanent exhibition "state gifts" in the foyer of the federal chancellery in Berlin. The exchange of gifts during official meetings has a long tradition and is today still an essential part of international diplomacy. In the main representation building of the German government, the Federal Chancellery, the old tradition can be relived. The exhibition in the foyer of the federal chancellery shows state gifts presented to the different Chancellors of Germany within a historical context.

Through ten showcases visitors can explore the selective state visits of the Chancellors from Konrad Adenauer to Olaf Scholz. Furthermore the gifts, documents and photographs reflect the particular foreign affairs and general political conditions of the Chancellors of the last 70 years.
For this exhibtion COORDINATION has created a series of individual showcases which utilises the dynamic architectual space of the Chancellery. The distinctive triangle foundation of the showcases is the counterpart to the organic curved form of the main building and completes the foyer with a special accent. In July 2022, the exhibition was updated with new gifts in the wake of Olaf Scholz's new chancellorship.
