Light installation made of 60 repurposed redundant light diffusers
Giving materials with history a second life.
50% old + 50% new = 100% story. For a double-storey atrium with a large window front overlooking Frankfurt’s Palm Garden, COORDINATION created a bespoke light installation consisting of repurposed redundant light diffusers from the 90ies, that were saved from being discarded during demolition.

During a site inspection, we spotted the acrylic cylinders and suggested to develop a concept to transform them into new, unique light fixtures. Each fixture consists of two cylinders and a central illuminating body. After prototyping and testing, the 30 pieces were arranged into a beautiful suspended swarm.
This approach highlights our commitment to sustainability by creatively recycling materials with history that would have otherwise gone to waste without narrative.
